The Streak

7-0: I battled against a bout of meningitis that threatened to take my legs.
29-0: Hit by a car, I spent several weeks in hospital in a coma.
44-0: Diagnosed with cancer, my belief in my streak continuing is shattered.
50-0: The sweet day remission came. A half-century unbeaten.
53-0: A heart attack slows me down, but I bounce back.
61-0: A back injury sustained at work puts me down, but not out.
74-0: A second heart attack does it's worst.
80-1: Old age finally does me in. The streak ends.
