Anticipation was high for the debut performance of Gary Sphincter and his backing band, The Pasty Bastards at the Cow & Shotgun pub, Oakwell Road, on Friday evening.
Beginning with a challenging 22-minute soundscape of white noise and feedback, the crowd were then treated to a dancehall cover of Bowie's 'Ashes to Ashes' before an unwarranted interruption by a black hole that opened in the lounge bar of the pub.
Swallowing the band, the patrons and most of Oakwell Road, it left a lot of people wondering how Sphincter would go on to top this for entertainment and showmanship.

I'm sure I saw them back in the day.
