The wind rushing past.
The voices of loved ones.
The laughter of her children.
None of these things had ever been in the life of Christina. She had lived her entire life in complete silence for thirty years. Fortunately, that could be about to change.
A procedure she recently heard about would install implants in her ears that would allow her to have the sense of sound. The risk were there, as with any operation, but she could not resist the opportunity.
The operation was a complete success.
Now Christina could hear the wind.
Voices.
And her children's beautiful laughter.

Thanks both of you for your comments! And to Drew, no I actually didn't notice this. I suppose that is an expression I use so often that I didn't even think about the context I was using it in.
