“Thank you for joining us in honoring the life of Amy, loving aunt and sister.” A brisk wind blew in, carrying petals off of nearby rosebushes and swirling the hem of my skirt. Someone from the swarm of black to my left sniffles, and the huge house on my right that once belonged to my now dead aunt looms over the crowd.
If you squinted past the hedges that separate her lush garden and the street, you would see a small bakery across the way, with a sobbing shopkeeper sitting on the front stoop, watching the funeral from a distance.
