She stares down at the water, sweat beading along her forehead as she wrings her hands to stop their shaking. She feels empty, hopeless, staring into the yawning void of air between her and the water. She tries not to lean too far over the edge as she peers at the water so far below her.

Just jump, a voice echoes in her head. What are you waiting for?

She takes a deep, shaking breath, and steps forward.

And throws herself over the edge.

When she surfaces, she looks to the right.

"Was that really so hard?" Her teacher asks.
