Someday I will…
Shine as bright as the sun
Though, am yet to be polished.
Lead a life of content
When, clueless to create.
Fill others with hope
Still, feel empty within.
Lend my hand to someone
Though, mine are cuffed to my boat.
Let someone lean on me
But I’m falling down.
Give someone a piece of mind
When, I’m a prisoner of my past.
Love someone for all their faults
Nonetheless, can’t look myself in the mirror.
To be fearless
Yet, fear to end up ordinary.
Today, I might be brittle as Chalk
Someday, I will become Titanium….

Wow, you’re on a roll, Verity! Great stuff. I sincerely hope you (the narrator) achieves the positive outcomes without being overburdened by those more limiting. It’s a piece to read, read and read again.

When I worked in advertising, believe it or not, I was quite self-effacing, doing myself down all the time... until... my boss, a brilliant man, told me that if ever he heard me underselling my achievements he would fire me. He said that in the advertising business there were plenty of others happy to undermine me, so why do it myself! As a direct result of this and his implied vote of confidence, the pendulum swung and I became totally self-confident. Modesty is all very well, but it needs putting in proper perspective... imho!

Those are really some very wise words, shall bear them in mind.
Thanks a bunch, Neville!
