I sat on a park bench
Outside of a subway entrance
Beneath the black silence of New York City,
I watched cars come and go
with headlights flashing around
and so many people at a glance,
I can only imagine how many lives
I must be a part of every single day
Just by existing in this world around my life,
I remember the sound of people yelling
The ringing of sirens around the air
Filled with the hums from the 770 synagogue,
So much to do in the city that never sleeps
Yet I did not
till I left
