Worst Birthday Ever

I decided I didn't want everyone, or indeed anyone, to know it was my birthday.
For someone who can't decide whether they're an introvert or an extrovert, it's tough to know what the correct amount of required attention is.
None was clearly very wrong though.
No cards. No cake.
I sat alone in my flat, seething and looking at the only gift I had - a bottle of Jack Daniel's I'd bought on my way home.
I was two thirds in when the phone rang. I ignored it, not knowing it was the one call I'd hoped to receive that day.
