There are moments in everyone's life that can affect them forever. As a youngster, I had a run-in with the side of a car once...

Tearing along the road near the house on my blue Gresham Flyer, a car came out of a sideroad. Of course I slammed on the brakes and went flying over the handlebars.

It. Was. Awesome!

That moment lasted for minutes, not seconds. I was free of gravity. Weightless while still being here on Earth.

Yeah, so, I scraped my hands as I landed on the tarmac. But oh wow! Was it absolutely worth it!

Wow Jeff! Scary or what? It must have been an incredible experience, seeming like it took forever, but actually just seconds. You probably didn’t have time to be really scared (which I am now for the then you!), but then pain and fear tend to disappear after their moments. I’m so glad you lived to tell the tale as it could have been a much sadder story. Did the bike survive?

Yep, everything was fine. I stopped well short of the car, much to their relief. I did a graceful arc and enjoyed that moment of freefall. I actually landed pretty well for a ten-year-old. We're still fairly bouncy at that age ;) Not anymore of course! The bike was fine, other than a few small scrapes itself. :)

Glad you and bike survived! I've had a close shave while in a cab inches away from a bus. Lucky both halted
