Magic #88

by

As they left the Oracle behind them, Will pulled on Tellericks' robe. "Master? What's an Augury?"

Tellerick smiled. "Most people would say that it is a tool for poking holes in things. But there's an obscure meaning that reaches far back into the past. I'm reasonably sure the Oracle means that one, and not the tool reference." He stopped, turned and knelt in front of William.

"An Augury is a person who can tell the future from the flights of the birds in the sky. And they are, very, special people indeed."

"And I am an Augury?"

"Yes. You are."

I am glad you are back. I missed Amethyst :-)
I didn’t know the word augury. Thank you for using it.

Thank you, Frenchie! 😊 I did my research and looked around for a more unusual word to use. Its use has changed over the years, but it's a good word 😊

I like the way this story’s twisting and turning, Jeff! 🥴

Thanks, Neville, Drew. The word "Augury" was bugging me. Fortunately having a character that has practically no educational background beyond the basics allows for a little bit of elucidation (Had to look that one up, knew it, couldn't summon the word) Admittedly, Will seems a bit of a wasted character, but he's just along for the ride, and keeping his head down 😉
