Pollution

by

It rained today.

I watched the plastic window sill sag as it slowly melted. The little drops pattering against the glass. Running in rivulets down the resistant silicon, over the silicone seal and onto the plastic sill. The sill dripped with the rain, as it was eaten away.

I sighed.

No going out today. My kit was at the cleaners, and it would be days before I could get over there in just normal clothes and a respirator. Behind me the cat is yawning from the bed, while outside a brief break in the clouds shines a shaft of sunlight.

Oh dear. I hope the pollution misses my village.
PS...Drew always makes me ashamed of my literary ignorance!

    Really poignant, Jeff.

Neville, you're probably more familiar with Mr. Dick's work than you think. His novel Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? was the basis for the movie Bladerunner. Other movies were based on his work too, like Total Recall and Minority Report.

Thanks Christopher 😊 And thanks again for the comparison with Philip K. Dick Neville. It was a wonderful complement 😊

It was Drew who gave you the compliment Jeff. But I think it extremely thought-provoking. I had never heard of Philip K Dick and haven’t seen any of the films Christopher mentioned. I’m so ignorant of so much popular culture!πŸ˜’
