He'd done me favour, he said. So why did I feel the sentence stopped before 'favour?'
The van was old. The handbrake needed lowering so far you'd have to be an Orangutan to feel comfortable using it - and if you didn't drop it fully, it beeped horribly.
Twice, the coolant warning came on, and there was a loss of power through the accelerator.
You were late booking, he suggested. Four weeks ago?
The newer van should have been £75 - booked four weeks back - and why did he then extend its loan to someone else?
As a favour - he charged £90?!
