Which has more value? My freedom or compliance?
I wrote...
In days gone by - it seemed strange to me,
to make a poem compulsory,
so much better to let it arise, and
emerge unspoiled from deep inside,
to deliver its message, whole, complete,
to lay its truth at others feet.
I always felt that to have no choice,
served only then to stifle voice,
For when it's forced, or made a 'must,'
by stealthy means eroding trust,
and dropped upon as a 'fait accompli,'
You'll likely one reaction see...
More rhyme than poem! But it felt good to rebel, again!

Maybe there's a fine line between 'Forcing it" and 'getting on with it. ☺
