Horror

"I’ll be there in a drabble," yelled Simon.

Suzanne raised her eyes to the ceiling and stifled her retort for the sake of the children. "Come on kids. We’ll get in the car."

Simon was struggling to find the last line for his Drabble. He wanted to create just the right effect to make its impact quite profound.

Suzanne pacified their children with sweets from her handbag. "Your dad will be there very soon," she encouraged. She hated the word ‘Drabble’ and mostly for the all-consuming effect it had on her husband.

That’s when the heart attack ‘took him.’

I recognise the need to finish the drabble! It gets me into trouble too. A drabble by any other name would seem as brief.
