Somewhere in the storage of accumulated things, those intended to be fixed, the lamp minus the lampshade, the torn window screen, or repurposed, the broom handle minus bristles, worn wicker chairs, the boxes of inherited tools, cans of rusted nails, the ends of things, rolls of carpeting and linoleum, yellowed wallpaper, the extras just in case, stacks of bathroom tiles, furnace filters, somewhere there was a shoebox of assorted letters clamped tightly by elastic bands. It should have been the easiest to discard, tossed into the recycling bin. The longer kept, the weightier the contents: the handwriting and signatures of the dead.

Hmmm.... This all sounds rather familiar. Maybe I should start chucking out now!

    Very picturesque. And so familiar.
Encountered it not too long ago, when I moved in with my girlfriend.

Oh, all the corpses of a former life.

    Well done.

"The longer kept, the weightier the contents." Love this line.
