Some perched on the roof while others sat or stood inside with chickens and goats. The bus had four wheels on the road and then it didn't. It was a rock
hurling down the embankment, a rock sinking into a deep rush and swirl
of more rocks and confusion that was the river. The ripples began with the few thrown from the roof, caught like debris in the trees, and witnesses who heard the crushing metal, much farther, others would be waiting impatiently to board the bus that would never arrive, the bus driver's wife dropping potatoes into her soup.
