"Well, I guess that wraps it up," I said. "Hopefully I can find a paying client soon."
"You mean Jen Ann hasn't given you a penny?" Harrigan asked.
"No, but she's given me so much more! But I still need to make up my back rent or I'm gonna get tossed."
"You need me to loan you some money?" he asked.
"I wouldn't take your money, Jim. But thanks for the offer."
"Well, it's there if you need it. See you later, Randolph."
"Yeah. Thanks, Harrigan," I said, hanging up.
I collected Jen Ann and headed for The Gilded Daffodil...

My paternal grandfather used to tell us “Never a lender nor borrower be!”
He also said that in response to anyone requesting him to be the former, he would say “I have ten shillings for lending... and it’s out right now!” (Yes, it’s true, he was a smartarse too! Must be in the genes!)
