"Boy, that society sure knows how to protect itself, doesn't it?" I asked.

"Yeah, and this was after we interviewed the Porter girl. She magically backed up the story about the prostitution ring."

"I'm surprised she didn't try to blame everything on me."

Harrigan chuckled, "She probably didn't want to make an enemy of you, Jake. Your enemies have a bad habit of meeting a nasty end."
