Requiem For A Stripper #350

by

I put that to rights first thing, and drove over to Hoofers. I parked the stolen car right in front of the place, which looked closed, and got in my car and drove off.

Then I headed for the Bluebird Diner. I knew I'd be there well before Harrigan at this rate so I stopped and bought the morning edition of the L.A. Times.

I got there about 20 minutes to 1 p.m. I got a booth by the window and opened up the paper. The headline said Fire Destroys House In Nichols Canyon.

Peggy came up to the table...

Peggy almost has a starring role in this story!

Yeah, and I don't think I ever mentioned her in a story before, even as many times as they've been in that frigging place! I'm not sure I ever even had a waitress come to their booth before. I'd have to go back through the stories and check. But she'll be the one going forward now.

There haven't been too many recurring characters besides Harrigan. I introduced Whistling Eddie and Aristotle as time went on. And in the later ones where Jake owns the Existential Café there's Mongo, but other than that there haven't been too many. So Peggy will take a place alongside them going forward.

Deservedly so! (Those other characters are very memorable and larger than life!...well except Ari I guess!😁). I had wondered if Minga might make muster as a recurring mischievous, malicious malefactor....

Well, he'll be in at least one more.

    That’s very reassuring! 😁
