Harrigan was a practical man. I knew arguing with him about it would be pointless. Besides, I needed his help.

The phone on Harrigan's desk rang and he picked it up.

"Harrigan. Yeah, okay. Thanks, Becky."

He wrote something down on a piece of paper and handed it to me. It said 375 Cherokee Street, West Covina.

"Thanks, Jim. I'll let you know if I turn up anything."

He nodded as I got up. I sensed someone walking up behind me. I turned to see the chief of police of the city of Los Angeles, Anthony Romero, staring at me...

    Ben Romero was the name of Joe Friday's longtime partner on the 1950s version of Dragnet. I gave the chief that surname as an homage.
