I nodded, which was a waste of time because she couldn't see it.

He's probably tired! I just figured the timeline out. Jen Ann hired him on Friday morning and this drabble is about noon on Sunday. So this entire story so far, including all of Jake's dalliances with the ladies, has taken place over the course of two days!
