Requiem For A Stripper #107

by

The street lights made streaks on the hood of my car as I headed for home. L.A. was a different animal this late. The night was about to drift off to dream and dawn's alarm clock was about to jar it awake.

I got to my apartment just before the sun rolled out of bed. I grabbed a quick shower, ate a can of Heinz baked beans, and fell face first onto my bed. I lay there for a while before I actually lost consciousness.

I had a dream about strippers. I just couldn't seem to get away from them...

That dream sounds like good therapy... along with the beans... Beanz Meanz Heinz! I worked for the ad agency that coined that little gem... and hugely successful it was over here too!

Nice! There were a couple of good episodes of Mad Men involving them having the Heinz Baked Beans account and trying to figure out a way to make them interesting. I like your slogan.

In fact, my great career break immediately after university came when I applied for a job in an ad agency... just the one... my other job applications were all about chemicals. A scientist, I hadn’t even known that ad agencies existed until I saw a write up in a careers magazine. I’d sailed through my initial interview with the HR director and one Monday arrived in London for a 5:30pm interview with the Heinz beans director. He told me he had just 30 minutes for me. I’d been passionate and argumentative about Heinz Baked Beans. I left at 8:15pm having secured the job! Yippee!
