I doubted that, considering their boss wanted to see us, but I took him at his word.

We drove through the dark, foggy streets of the wharf district until we came to a warehouse. I felt a keen sense of deja vu. I'd never been there before, but all dark warehouses look the same and I'd seen my share of them. I'd been tied up, beaten and nearly killed in them. I left that life behind and yet, there I was, right back at a dark warehouse facing another life-or-death situation.

The goon pulled up to the front...

    And youze not even gettin’ paid fer all this. It’s all Roxie’s fault when you think about it Jake. You’d never’ve got into this without her askin’!
