"But, you're not a detective anymore."
"Yes, but Roxie, my girlfriend, is his agent and she thought I could give him some pointers about how to play a detective."
Mongo nodded but I don't think he fully grasped it.
"So, what's this meeting tonight in Beverly Hills?"
"William Sperry, the head of the studio that's making the Derek Slade movie, has some work for a detective and I told Rox I'd take the case and let Brick Mason come along."
"Are you becoming a detective again?"
"Only briefly," I said as I took some empty liquor bottles to the stockroom...

Mongo seems to be a bit slow on the uptake... Jake isn’t becoming a detective again really, Mongo, just a little bit of a dick! (Sorry Jake, I badmouthed you for the sake of a cheap quip... please don’t set the Feds on me!)

It’s fun. Sorry for the cheap quips, but it means I’m loving it!😁

I'm glad you're enjoying it. I'm really enjoying writing it. I wasn't sure I would like writing one where Jake wasn't a detective, but I kind of cheated and made him a detective anyway.

I’m sure it’s going to hot up pretty damn soon, detectivewise!

Yeah, the pace of this one's a little slower since he had to be dragged back into being a detective. But we'll get to some action in due course.
