I knew this guy in high school, let's call him Bennett. Anyway, Bennett was in a rival band. We weren't really friends before that fact but he had even less affection for us after that fact.
So, we got some good news about a potential lucrative gig and told Bennett about it. Bennett replied, "So? You expect me to do cartwheels about it?" He always was a bit of a dickhead.
The gig eventually fell through.
But, on the bright side, I didn't dye my hair black, start worshipping Satan, and eventually get arrested for burglary either.
So, there's that.

True, I note. Well done you... and as for Bennett (let’s call him stoopid prick)... sounds like cartwheel karma!

Teehee! I should've mentioned this was inspired by Jamie's recent drabble. When I was commenting on it I made mention of this incident and it inspired this drabble.

And yes, it's true. And that was Bennett's fate. Or at least the guy I'm calling Bennett.

I’d guessed it might have been inspired by Jamie’s comment. But I thought your rocknecdotes might spawn a series...? More paleeeease!

I've been thinking about that, trying to remember some of the things that happened.

I’d have thought they were all indelibly etched on your memory!

Some of them are but a lot of it blurs into just a memory of being there with my mates. I think you don't realize when you're young that you're doing things you'd want to remember in 30 years.

Like this very drabble. I didn't remember that guy saying that until I read Jamie's drabble and that triggered it.

Interesting how one story can trigger another. ;-) Enjoyed this and wonder what 'Bennet' is doing now...

Learning to cartwheel maybe. ;-))

Thanks, Jamie. I heard about ten years after high school he'd gotten himself straightened out but I haven't heard anything since then.
