I couldn't wait any longer so I drove off, grabbed a couple of chili dogs at Leo's Diner and then headed home. I quickly scarfed down the canines and then went to the bathroom and shaved. I took a fast shower and then put on some black slacks with a white pullover sweater. I wasn't wearing a jacket so I couldn't wear my shoulder holster. I'd have to leave my piece in the glove compartment of the car. I wasn't expecting any trouble.
But if my history is anything to go by, that's the time when I usually get trouble...

Never heard of ‘scarfing down canines’, never having had a dog, but I guess it’s feeding the brutes. Jake... you gotta be prepared man! Your record for trouble thus far ain’t so good.🕵️♂️

You've never had a chili dog, Neville? Or a hot dog of any kind?
Christopher almost 5 years ago
Haha. I thought that sounded better than "I ate the chili dogs."

I’ve had a few hot dogs, only a few because over here they used to use frankfurter sausages, which I hate. Silly me... I thought they were real dogs!🥴
Scarfing = scoffing (as we used to say at posh school)
Doh!
