Bourbon On The Rocks #252

by

Daylight was increasing as I stood there next to Milton. The birth of a new day is always a new beginning.

The Pacific Ocean looked so beautiful in the early morning, crashing against the rocks with such a fierce determination.

I sat down on the rocks beside Milton’s body. I unscrewed the flask and took a few drinks, toasting Milton. Then I poured the rest of the bourbon onto the rocks next to his body.

Despite my heartache, I couldn’t help but smile. I’d finally had my bourbon neat, and Milton finally had his bourbon on the rocks.

THE END

Well, that's it, everyone. Hope you all enjoyed it. And don't worry, Jake Randolph will return...

Oh, and I hope I managed to change people's minds about Milton. I certainly have a different opinion about him now that it's done. His character morphed seriously from how I first envisioned him. He originally wasn't even supposed to be Jake's old friend.

Thank you very much Christopher, oh, and you too Jake(y)! Another great yarn, brilliantly paced and told. You kept up the momentum so well and with it my attention and enjoyment. My breakfast ain’t gonna be so enyoyable until Jake’s back on the Drablr scene again. I’m waiting....😛
On a personal note Christopher, I am so glad you decided to return to Drablr. We would be significantly poorer without you!

Thanks so much, guys. I really enjoy writing these. As far as the last line goes, it was supposed to be a running thing in this story, the fact that Jake drinks bourbon on the rocks and Milton drank it neat, but there wound up only being one time where that difference was referenced, which was when they were drinking in Jake's apartment. I just hoped everyone remembered that.

It didn’t matter if people did remember Christopher, which I did btw, you made the point well without need for recollection.

Wow, thank you, Andre. Neville has been encouraging me to look into self-publication for the Jake Randolph series, but my job, coupled with some recent health issues, have prevented me from investigating it further at the moment.
