Tiffany Cross finished her song to loud applause. She smiled and took a bow. I turned back to the bar to down the last of my bourbon and I could feel that someone had come up behind me. I turned back to see a small man flanked by two guys that looked like mountains with legs. The little guy in the middle had on a gray suit with a gray vest over a white shirt and a black tie. His black hair was slicked back and greasy.
I knew I was getting my first look at notorious gangster Bobby Diamond..

Grey for ‘gray’ Neville according to my UK spellcheck?
Neville Hunt about 5 years ago
Yes Steve, but Christopher’s using the US version which is different to ours, on account of being a US citizen!

Thanks, guys.
Drew, Diamond is a featured character, so this is just the first appearance.
Yeah, we use both spellings of gray here but I've always used the one with a. But I get that Steve was taking the piss out of Neville with that!

You’re right, Christopher, Steve does have a tendency to take the piss out of me, but I try to give as good as I get. It doesn’t always work like that though 😕

How did you guess? Sorry Neville! With the story wrapped in such compelling Californian atmosphere how could the author not be from any other source?
