Hard Of Herring #3

by

Ever heard of the Mandela Effect? It's what the internet calls a phenomenon where many people remember things as being a certain way but it turns out to be something different. The 'net is replete with examples.

But The Beatles? Somehow all their old songs are different now. My favorite, "Lady Madonna" has somehow morphed into "Lazy Mahatma," "Eleanor Rigby" has become "Every Whore Digs Me," and "Come Together" turned into "Kung Fu Feather."

And others have changed too:

"I Want To Mold Your Gland"
"All You Peed Is Blood"
"Gay Flipper"

It is seriously enough to drive you bonkers.

That's a very basic and sparse definition of the Mandela Effect. If you're not familiar with it, take a moment to research it. There will most definitely be something on the list that you remember one way but it's actually something totally different.

But this guy isn't experiencing the Mandela Effect, he just can't hear!

Haha! All I can offer is “Yell or scrub latrine”, “Curry that meat” and “Pissed on stout”

Haha! I tried to think of one for "Yellow Submarine" and I couldn't come up with anything!

Back in the day, me and my mates all used to sing “Pissed on stout”, stout being very dark beers such as Guinness in case it doesn’t translate.

Yeah, I've watched enough British TV shows to know most of what you and others reference. Your notes in the tag section help too. Occasionally though, like with the Maltesers, I'm not aware and have to do a bit of searching.

Not sure if the Mars Corporation (or is it called M&Ms) over there produce Maltesers. They are fandabbydozy! We used to do the ads for them, but whilst every month we would be send free boxes of Mars, Milky Way, Bounty, Snickers etc, they never seemed to send us any Maltesers. Shame on them!

Yeah, we have most of those over here but I'd never heard of Maltesers. Sometimes, though, they'll have things in some areas but not others. We have brands of food down South that they can't get in New York City, and the reverse is true also.

My first thought for an ad for that brand would be a parody, with a Humphrey Bogart lookalike trying to locate the Malteser Falcon.

Sounds like a good idea, Christopher. Pity I don't work in the business any more and am just a poor academic. :-(
