He knelt down beside me, "Nonsense, my boy. We'll get you to a hospital."
He looked at my side, which was bleeding pretty badly.
"Where's a bottle of mouthwash when you really need it?" he asked in a joking way. I knew he was trying to lighten the mood. I didn't know if that was good or bad.
He looked up at the bartender and yelled, "Llame a una ambulancia!" which I assumed meant "Call an ambulance."
The bartender ran out the front door.
"Sharkey," I said, coughing, "Rivers may still be around."
"Don't worry," he said. "I shot him."

Rivers may be flowing, with blood, but he can't be dead...otherwise the fast forward part of the story ain't gonna woik! Watch yer back, Russo, watch yer back!

Yeah, there's still a ways to go yet.
It's funny you say that about Rivers flowing with blood because I just used that line in one of the drabbles I wrote a few days ago.

Didn't mean to plagiarise Christopher! I was just trying to make a cheap joke! I didn't spot that one...must check back a few days...
Talking of jokes, I hope you liked my 'Reunion' drabble, although you possibly need to say the last three lines out loud to get it (maybe with an English accent).

No, I haven't even posted that drabble yet, that's what's weird about it!
I'll have to catch up on everyone's drabbles shortly. I'm in the middle of something and don't have much time

I should be able to read it shortly, though.
