Sharkey walked over to the crates that were still in the adobe and looked at the back of them. I saw it in his eyes. He was starting to believe me.

"I was hired by the Army to bring Hall and Schmidt to justice and try and recover whatever loot it was they took. This gold was stolen from the bank of some country that the Nazis invaded."

"Those damned Krauts," Sharkey said, and I knew I had him.

"Look, Sharkey, I'm not even interested in the gold. Keep it. Just let me go after Hall and Schmidt. Please, Sharkey."
