Jake Randolph Origins #62

by

"What?" Rocco asked with genuine puzzlement.

"Never mind. Can you tell me anything about Col. Hall that day?"

"He just came in, took a troop truck and left."

"Did you ask him why he needed a troop truck?"

"No."

"Why not?" I asked.

"He's a colonel, I'm a sergeant. You do the math, Randolph!"

"Did he say anything about where he was going?"

"No."

"Can you at least give me the number of the damned truck?" I was getting really pissed off at this point.

He grabbed a clipboard and thumbed through several pages.

"Okay, the number's 3107 HQ-10."

I'm sure that the registration plate number would be in that format for the time and the place, Christopher. I know you'll have researched that. :-)

I did! It took a while but I managed to find some truck numbers from that time period. I'm assuming the HQ is for headquarters, maybe? I figured the base they would've set up in Berlin would've been considered an HQ.

Thanks for commenting on it. It takes me so long to write these stories because I do a ton of research before and during the writing process.

Your prior research is quite clear and it's what makes the story resonate so well with us readers! I'm really enjoying it and am so very glad you came back to us.
