"Jake, would it be too much of an imposition for you to take me back to L.A.?" she asked in a sweet little voice the Devil couldn't have said no to.
I shook my head, "Not at all. That's where I was headed when I was done here anyway."
She smiled, jumping up, "Can you help me pack a few things?"
"Sure."
A few things. I didn't know she meant almost the entire contents of her apartment, minus the furniture and appliances. If being a detective didn't work out I sure as hell wasn't going to become a moving man!

That Pontiac Torpedo of Jake's must have had a helluva large boot (trunk)!

Well, I meant personal effects and not furniture. I probably should've made that a little clearer. I'll try to revise it to make more sense. I tried to give the impression that she was living a pretty sparse existence anyway. (The Torpedo has a backseat too.)

Me too, like Drew. Please don't take my comment above as a criticism, Christopher, because it's not. It's just Nev trying to be a smartarse as usual. :-)

That's a big compliment because that's exactly what I strive for with these stories, to make it seem.like you're watching a movie in your mind rather than just reading something.
I wasn't offended, Neville. I realized it did sound kind of silly to have everything in her apartment packed in Jake's car. I probably should've went ahead and posted the next drabble with it last night, because it explains just what they put into the car.
I appreciate any input.
