When I was a kid I used to go exploring in the woods behind our house. There was a beautiful creek, if you were willing to trek a couple of miles through a dense thicket. The swiftly moving water played quite a concerto as it splashed around big rocks and over a small waterfall.

There was also this big mound on top of a hill. One of my friends said it was an Indian buried there. Someone else said it was just a natural formation.

I'm 43 now, but still I wonder what was under the dirt in that mound...

Sorry, guys. This isn't really a story, but something jogged my memory about that mound and it still makes me wonder what it was. The title is very H.P. Lovecraft sounding, so I hope I didn't disappoint anyone reading it.

This Drabble was more for me than anyone else. I've been thinking a lot lately about my childhood and reflecting on things.

This is a drabble that had me visualising the scene. As for that mound, it holds anything your imagination wants it to, Indian or secret stash of pirate's gold. Maybe go back and check it out, surreptitiously! 😲

I'm afraid my parents don't own that house anymore, so if I went back there now I would be trespassing. (Of course, we didn't own the woods behind the house, so I was trespassing even back then!)

Sometimes you have to break the rules. I'd check the mound and put the mystery to sleep. ;-|)

Thanks but I don't feel like getting tossed in the slammer for trespassing. (Or worse. I live in the Southern U.S. and folks down here will generally just eliminate the middle man, meaning the law, and shoot you themselves!)

Thanks, Robbin. But I'm not THAT curious!
