I sat there staring at the wall. There was nothing else to do. I was locked up in this hellhole and I didn't even know when I was getting out. I couldn't draw vertical lines on the wall to mark the days I would be in here because I didn't even get a trial. I was just thrown in here. Is that justice?

Every appeal went unheard. I had to face the facts: I was stuck here. Only by some miracle would I be swept out of this place.

I stared at that damned blinking cursor. I hate writer's block.

I realized it had been 28 days since I'd written a drabble. That was unacceptable, but I had no inspiration. So I used that to my advantage. Take THAT, writer's block!

You tell it, Christopher! Knock it's block off! ...as we say over here (same in US?...)

Thanks, Neville. Yeah, that's an expression over here too, although more in the past than today. It's something you'd hear more on the Little Rascals than on some tween show on Nickelodeon. (Personally, I prefer Spanky and the gang.)

Don't know either of those shows, Christopher, although Spanky sounds like something for after the 9.00 pm watershed! :-)

I was speaking randomly about Nickelodeon, which is a kid's cable TV network here in the States, but you've never heard of the Little Rascals, Neville? Spanky and Alfalfa and Buckwheat? They were making short subject films around the time of the Three Stooges, but in the 50's they started showing them and the Stooges on TV like it was a show. They're part of pop culture history. That's amazing that you don't know who they are. I would've thought they would've transcended international borders.

I had a very sheltered upbringing, Christopher! Maybe they did cross the pond, but didn't get to my backwoods home. Or maybe the members of my family were just too busy trying to outquip each other to realise what was out there. I have heard of Nickelodeon though, but I don't have access to it. I watch CBeebies with the grandkids - great stuff from, of course, the BBC.
