I watched as the old man's life was rapidly ticking away on the clock. Not long now. But the mood wasn't sad. People were talking and laughing, reflecting on the old man's time on Earth. Despite the coming end, everyone was hopeful. You had to be.
Then the old man died.
At that very moment, the baby was born. The room broke out in kisses and choruses of "Auld Lang Syne."
But I thought of another song...
"It's a new dawn,
It's a new day,
It's a new life for me,
And I'm feelin' good"
"Feeling Good"

Thanks, Neville. Every New Year's I try to feel good and be hopeful for the future. Of course, by the end of January I'm usually disillusioned again. But at least I try.
