I saw the hang glider first, red and yellow stripes gaudy against the sky.

When he jumped from the roof, I gasped. He was far too close to the ground.

He’ll fall!

I ran closer.

The glider flew (flew!) in lazy circles above my head.

I gasped through rainy tears. My smiling cheeks hurt.

He landed nearby, unseen by all but me.

“You’re a ghost!” I accused. “How dare you not be real!”

“I am real.” He laughed. “Come fly with me.”

I shook my head. “But we might fall.”

“We might, but what if we soar?”

What if, indeed?

As I'm composing Part II of Clockmaker's "Patchwork Tale", I had to post something here! Kind of fun writing a stand-alone drabble for the first time in a while.

A leap of faith. So important in writing, too.

Isn't the best part the unknown ending? That way you can choose which way you want it to go! lol Thanks for all the wonderful comments. I'm smiling too!
