The Dance of Rejection

I know this dance well
Like an ancient spell
I know the way it always goes
And the way my heart slows.

And the glory it dispells
The steps it takes, the twists and turns
And the feet that surely burn.

And all the tales it could tell
But few can join the great ball
Even if it is open to all.

For it is my death knell
