Once they used to belch out smoke
Like an ancient dragon
When people used to produce coal
In wagon upon wagon
Now they stand amongst the trees
Like a forgotten tower
Having long ago lost their voice
And their legendary power
There is none left to wake them
Perhaps its for the best
For I'm not sure the forests
Could stand that test
Besides, we have peace now
Why would we wake beasts
When we can live and laugh
And delight in natures feast
Perhaps it is a little sad
But the loss of those monsters
Isn't really so bad.

Liked the image of a chimney as a forgotten tower. Gives a mythic sense to something that might otherwise have seemed mundane.
