Cognitive Dissonance #3

by

Setting sun and thunderclouds streak trails across the sky. Sierra stands on the balcony, watching smoke from her cigarette drift.

Much as she's drifted in and out of consciousness today.
No sign of Johannes. She's not sure she cares.

When he isn't here, she feels numb, worse than when he's with her.
She knows the money's dwindling. He says don't worry.
When he's not here, she fights the desire to run. Where would she go?

They've came so far together. Staying here, it felt good to breathe.
But now she's stifling.

She sees Johannes walking back across the parking lot.
