Richard walks his dog along the same route thru the neighborhood. Rain. Shine.

One of the half million dollar homes along his journey. The grass is growing longer.
Maybe they're gone for the holidays.
Nope. The placard clearly states foreclosure.

Richard wonders who the family is. They've already vacated the premises. House left cold, empty. Were they rich? Just didn't pay their mortgage? Hardships? Or reaching beyond their means? Entitled? Life of luxury then declare bankruptcy?

Richard wonders if he should pity the family or rue them.
Either way, it's a good spot for his dog to take a shit.
