The knight, after climbing the supposedly unclimbable cliffside, arrived at the summit and stood before the mouth of the dragon’s cave. “Princess…?” he called.
A deep belch reverberated from inside.
Oh no, he thought, I’m too late!
He drew his sword and stormed into the cave, bent on retribution. Inside, illuminated by firelight, loomed the enormous form of the dragon’s skeleton. Off to the side, a green flank roasted over a flame tended by one very rotund damsel.
She covered her mouth. “Excuse me. I guess the sound really echoes in here.”
He arrested her. Dragons were an endangered species.
