I know before opening my eyes she's spread her white blanket of quiet over Tuesday. And when they open I see the brightness through the curtain. And I know for sure a cover like Christmas cake icing, pure delight, wraps our world today.
Downstairs, I open the door to an unfamiliar garden. Different shaped plants draped in their white duvets. There’s the slow pop of snow compacting as a car travels tentatively down the road.
We eat breakfast huddled hopefully round the radio waiting for a school announcement. I’ve already googled but this is more fun.
It comes.
Closed.
Hooray!

Happy days. But back in the 80's you really did have to listen to the radio!! :)

Love the 'white blanket of quiet' and the cake icing simile. This is a wonderful sensory delight, Lisa.
