We sat waiting for someone else to start. They didn’t. Richard took the helm.
“Maybe a few words? Your name. Why you’re here. Or why you didn’t want to come.” He told the newcomers what we already knew about himself whilst fingering the hair around his mouth.
The new lady stood with a scrapping back from her chair.
“I use netMums. It’s the instruction manual I wish I’d got from the hospital. There’s always someone there that’s been through it. To help. I need that. I’m a single Mum, I feel quite alone at times no one to talk to.”

Fingering the hair around his mouth...wonderful. Your descriptions/ characterisations are terrific, Lisa. I'm going to have to up my game!

Hard, but great fun and so satisfying when you find briefer alternatives to hit the word count. I've lived all my life with word counts and I'm OK with them.
