Disapproval sent them through the forest to the village’s edge. And there in a field of barley they met that warm July day.

Hidden by hedgerow their love they affirmed away from prying eyes and scolding tongues. And the twisting vine, beside the girls entwined, sweetly perfumed their tryst.

Its curling tongue would never tell the secrets it heard them whisper.

And as the day slipped gently into eve they each took a woody stem and wove it round with locks of their hair. Raven tresses spun with gold. Their undying love declared as they swapped rings with a kiss.

Some lovely use of language again, Lisa. Alliteration and rhyme and its glow make it poetic. Have you thought of an audio version? It lends itself to this. I have just recorded it myself and it sounds terrific. Great writing!

Thank you Nev! It's on the 'to do' list. Have started putting them on a blog (with pics) and yes thought an audio version'd be good to go with them X

I just like the sound of my own voice (oh, and daughter is partially sighted and helps me to share ones I'm proud of with her). Contacted Michael Cook (Drablr owner & developer) to see if audio drabbles ('aubbles' maybe :-) ) could work on the site. But maybe I'm off in fantasy land again :-)

Not keen on mine, but think helps words come alive when hear author reading. Off out to see/hear Alison Moore tonight reading from her latest book. Awfully excited X

Have fun. It looks like a good event. Maybe I should read one of her books...if it isn't too dark and depressing.

Should be fab- I loved her latest one- Death and the Seaside. It plays with the reader a bit but unfolds just beautifully X
