Mark, still reeling inside, wondered how he would be able to enjoy the meal after the verbal slapping he had just received. He had never experienced such a tirade from any girl and certainly not as a preface to an evening out. He was too confused to challenge this girl’s assertion that she would pay the bill. He was in a fight or flight situation, but like a rabbit transfixed in headlights, he stayed put.
