Storm Henk having left trees, debris and deep mud everywhere, it was time to walk Through the Wardrobe with our village open-air players, The Living Theatre.
From a cleverly constructed train station, in pitch dark, the cast walked and talked us up the long, tree-lined hill, to a muddy field, where we passed through the wardrobe into Narnia. The lights, floodlit trees and action were magical. Greeted by Messrs Tumnus, Maugrim and the Wicked Witch, mighty Aslan finally gave us the happy ending we craved.
But the enthusiasm of the young cast surpassed even the fiercest lion’s power.

Ah, I can feel it was a very enjoyable play 😊

It was quite magical despite walking in the mud, and the young actors were brilliant!… and we both walked over 5,000 steps, in the mud and the dark, led by a fan, a wolf and young actors; it was quite scary in parts, particularly when the audience itself was kidnapped and taken to the Wicked Witch 😱

Sounds well worth the mud and cold Neville. I enjoyed a primary school teacher reading the Narnia books to us although in later life the religiosity overtones got in the way.

My favourite CS Lewis anecdote concerns his 'Colourful' reaction to the excessive amount of elves in a friend and fellow writers' famous tales. ☺
