More love and before love

I’ve loved you since I met you
It isn’t hard to tell
And if we’d met before sixteen
I’d have loved you then as well.

I’ve seen your childhood photos
So cute in every way
I imagine myself looking on
Though quite invisible I must stay.

And had I been around then
When I was only four
And seen the newborn baby you
I’d have loved you even more.

And here I am quite a few years on
Kids and grandkids, I love them too
But not one of them would be here now
Without my lifelong love for you.
