As the day prepares for night
Comes the dusk and comes the light
The light that shines with eyes half-closed,
Striking quite a different pose.
Every colour’s final shout,
Before the darkness calls them out
“Here I am, though day’s near past
Intensely striving to contrast.”
Redder than reds, whiter than white
All competing to preface the night
Intensity building on every hue
Lest we forget just who is who.
Then quickly fading as night claims the scene
Taking their place next the darkening green
But tomorrow dusk will they shine again yet
In final glory before the sunset.

As dusk appears and prepares for sunset, the light changes, reducing in intensity, while the colours of the flowers in our garden intensify in a way that is breathtaking, each colour contrasting with one another and pinging out of the predominantly green background. But then it succumbs to the darkness... until tomorrow!

Thanks very much Jamie. I really appreciate that. Mrs H particularly likes it too, which is an achievement in its own right. We are both moved by the light at dusk which many might miss, but the vibrancy of the colours in the garden are really quite breathtaking!
