BandBday
Woke this morning feeling fine
In truth a bit ahead of time
Full of excitement like way back when
I was a lad just turning ten.
“Now Neville you must stay in bed!”
(Actually using my nickname instead!)
The lady who must be obeyed
Accordingly, in bed I stayed.
“Come down now.” she called quite soon
I trotted down to the dining room
‘Full English’ and a ‘builders’ tea
Waiting there, and just for me.
Delicious breakfast right on cue
And the pretty waitress joined me too
“It’s really rather good round here
I’m coming back, same time next year!”

Hehe! Thanks! I’m not sure my 10 year old self would recognise this particular birthday treat though, Christopher, having taken place a couple of days ago. The breakfast was brilliant (‘Full English’ and builders’ tea are rather special institutions over here - particularly with me😁). And my ‘waitress’ has delighted me for many, many years!
